That word could be used for my blog and my brain! I have been pretty dormant on my blog due to being pulled in many different directions over the last week or so. And having T out of town really made it hard. By the time H would be in bed, I would be ready to follow shortly after!
I have so much to catch you up on but tonight won't be the night. I am severely exhausted and think I am just going to head to bed, turn on mindless TV and drool myself to sleep.
I thought of a fun topic that I may write on in my next post. I don't know who all will find it entertaining or educational but I am going to crack open the honest box about being pregnant & being a new mom. I mean being pregnant and THEN being a new mom. I'm not pregnant now...I don't think.
Anyway! Stay tuned! Maybe I will be able to take a stab at some brain power tomorrow...wait, I doubt it. T will be coming home and I have a lunch scheduled with a friend. Geez, folks. Maybe Saturday? Yikes. Sometime soon. Don't hate me cuz I'm dormant. Why do I like that word tonight?
More to come AND a possible giveaway soon. If I just get on the ball...I've got to FIND the damn ball first! Now, where DID I put that ball???

A wild ride and no change today!
I haven't been on much because H has been all in my business the last few days, I have been diligently working on that awards event I am planning and have been trying to keep up with my chores in between! My usual evening blog time has been replaced with droopy, sleepy eyes and mild break downs.
But I am happy to report that I am back! At least for today. This is one small (yet substantial) step in the right direction. Here I am at 98 followers (only 4 or 5 probably really "follow" me - and that may be generous) and I am slacking worse than I did at 9! I will try to do better (I say as H starts to fuss).
The event I am working on is going great! Not only does it give me my fix of planning, it also gives me a nice dose of adult time and a chance to use my brain on something other than the best baby supplies or how to make mango-pineapple chutney for dinner. We are in the beginning stages of the planning but next week will really put a lot of duties in my court. I am excited and a bit nervous at the same time. I have a great friend of mine, who I used to work with at the planning company I last worked for, helping me on this event so he will be here one day next week to help get some packets stuffed. It's a glamorous gig!
H is doing awesome! We started her on solids this past Monday...solids = very runny rice cereal (not MY idea of a great meal...but just about all I can muster these days for T and I). She LOVES it and has such an awesome time. I wish she would have opened her mouth as wide as she does for the spoon when I was nursing her months ago!!! That would have definitely helped the latch situation! It is so cute, H in her big girl high chair leaning towards the spoon each time. A spoonful of slop is followed by a fistful of fingers! Needless to say, this is not the most clean process! Luckily her bath follows her chow by about an hour with a good moist wipe to take care of the bigger chunks in between. I can't wait until she can try other kinds of food. I wonder if she will like a lot of the same things T and I do.
AND I am excited to start making baby food! I already have my cookbook out waiting! Now for some needed supplies to assist in the storage of it...
T is heading back out of town a lot over the next month or so but I have friends and family lined up ready to keep H and I company (and sane). My Mom is coming in town for a very short, two-day visit. She just can't be away from H too long. Between work and H, I will be pretty crammed next week...ooooh, did my brain full of random, unorganized thoughts tell you I am having a girls night tonight?? Yep, with a BFF of mine. Dinner and a couple of beers (no more than what the law will allow) and some great GIRL conversation!! Time for some catch up...
***And timeout number 1 to go put H in her crib for a nap***
Ok, two hours later and I am back. You see why my entries sometimes lag. She has napped, I showered, she ate and now we are full circle back to fussing! It's good to know what to expect out of each day.
Speaking of my girls night. I lurk on a board that has other mommies and the latest topic has been friends. How they feel like their relationship with their friends have changed since having a baby. That their friends don't call or come by like they used to.
Having a baby no doubt changes your life. It also changes your relationships (even the one with your husband to some degree - closer or not..thankfully I am one of the lucky ones). And friends are definitely in that category. I think, as mommies, we become so engrossed in life as a new mom (isn't my baby beautiful, guess what my baby did today, baby coo'd the funniest thing) that we forget that not EVERYONE is baby crazy like we are! I mean, it doesn't mean that they don't love our babies or think our babies are beautiful. But that isn't their entire lives like it is ours. I always have to remember that.
This is coming from experience too. I used to not only be as single as single can be, I also didn't really like kids. I never thought babies were awwww so cute or anything like that. I figured that, not only would I never get married, I sure the HELL wasn't going to have a baby! I'm not saying that all of my friends feel this way - many don't. But they are not in the same place that I am right now. They have lives too. And I want to know about them. Do I want to talk about H every minute of every day? What new mommy doesn't? But I DO want to hear how my single friends are...what they were up to last weekend...what awesome pub they found when hanging out with their girlfriends. Envious? Yeah, maybe. But I am so in love with my life right now that I am ok with hearing about the single fun! Luckily, I spent every waking (and some non-waking) moment in my 20's with my girlfriends, at the clubs, at home enjoying ME time, etc. So I don't mind hearing about the fun!
The bottom line is that I love my friends. I am very lucky to have awesome friends both here in the desert and back home in the Bluegrass!! I am surrounded by awesomeness!! And I know that, as a new mommy, I (and I alone) MUST make the effort to see my girls (and my guy friends too). Your single friends don't know what kind of time, if any, you have to see them. I think a lot of times they feel bad asking you to do something not knowing if you can get away. Or if you will need to cancel. Or if you really want to get away...they don't know. I truly feel that it is our responsibility to keep up with pre-baby relationships!
I just love hanging out with my girls so much...it doesn't seem much like an effort at all! It just isn't as frequent as it used to be for obvious reasons.
But that's my two cents. Give your pre-baby girls a break. Don't pull out the Polaroids...don't do a play-by-play of the last month in the life of baby...love the girl time!!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder...
Forgive me followers for I have sinned. It has been more than a few days since my last posting!
It has been quite a past few days...how long has it been? Close to a week? Unacceptable. I was hoping to devote this week to making my blog even more blog-tastic but got caught short when I was reminded that T had to head to his company's HQs in BFE Illinois. Boo.
It is all good, though. As the kick ass housewife/stay at home Mom that I am (toot-toot), a week long business trip does nothing but make me miss him terribly. Other than that, my day-to-day routine with H and with the house is basically unchanging. The only difference is that I don't have to think about what I will be making for dinner...I don't make dinner just for myself...why would I? And mess up a perfectly clean kitchen? Not a chance!
Let me stop here before diving into my latest exciting (questionable) adventures...
I have received my very first blog award!! I am sooo excited and completely surprised! A BIG thank you to Trista at http://novicemommie.blogspot.com/ for my awesome award!! This mommy blogging world is so much fun and I have met some amazing people online. Thank you again Trista and...hey followers...go check out her awesomeness at the link above. Show that lady some love!

How this award works...
The Rules for the award are:
1. Thank the person who gave you this award

4. Contact the bloggers you've picked and let them know about the award.
I will do my 15 blogs tomorrow...I hope that doesn't yank the award away from me...I am just uber tired and just wanted to update you on life as I know it...
Thank you again Trista!
What would a housewife blog be without a chat about the housekeeper that I hired! HA! That's right. As Domestic Engineer that is multi-tasking with a new baby, the pets, the house, the meals, the family schedule...I needed an "assistant." Kim turned out to be my girl. I think I already posted about how excited I was on her first day. I could have just sat on the bathroom floor to have dinner that night because everything felt so clean. And I think I may have explained that I just needed Kim to come in and deep clean the house so that all I had to do between her visits would be to do daily maintenance.
It is working like a charm. After she busted ass on the house, I have found my new mojo to keep the house looking good. Today was no exception...and can I gloat that I have about two more loads of laundry to do before it is complete! Done! Finished! Including linens! WOW! That is HUGE for me! I am super excited (these are the things that make a housewife excited, you see).
I experienced my first Mother's Day this past Sunday. It was very strange hearing people wish ME a happy mother's day! I never thought I would be a mother...except to babies of the furry kind. I would sometimes forget to answer or acknowledge their well wishes because I would assume they were talking to someone else. Crazy for sure!
H and I on our first Mother's Day together...

And, speaking of H...I had to break down and get her some new onesies and jammies to fit her long legs!! She can still fit weight-wise in 0-3 or 3 months but, when it comes to the length, she is well into 3-6 months or 6 months. I really just can't believe it. I was looking at photos of her when we left the hospital...about four and a half months ago...and newborn clothes were literally swallowing her up!! Now look at her! Tall cutie!

Am I blogolicious yet? I don't think so...not quite. There are so many incredible blogs out there. It is really hard to compete. However, I want to try and devote some time over the next couple of days to up the ante a bit more and really focus on daily entries...no more going a whole week without even a hello! What kind of relationship is that?
The Versatile Blogger Award sure helped inspire my creative juices (well, juice...I don't have a lot of it) to get something done! Stay tuned for updates.
Also stay tuned for more product reviews and giveaways. My last one was a HUGE hit and a ton of fun to do. I am looking forward to doing more in the VERY near future.
I am also going to have a QUESTION OF THE DAY in the discussion section of my Facebook group page for some fun! Be sure to join in on the discussion - include your name and your blog address (if you have one) and I will randomly select a contributor, put your answer on my blog and include your link! Plus it will just be fun to get to know everyone.
Go visit now for my first Question of the Day (QOTD)!!
Now, to close...part of winning the award is that I need to list seven things about myself so here goes...
1. I love to cook and I LOVE the Food Network
2. I have horrible allergies that got WORSE when I moved to the Southwest...not better!
3. I was a meeting and event planner when I was still in the work force. I am fortunate enough to be working on a large awards event for a national financial institution as a freelance contractor. But my deep dark love? Video editing...that was my career before meeting planning.
4. I've never been to LA but would LOVE to go no matter how many times I hear what a dump it is. I want to be there...and (embarrassingly so) I want to tour the homes of the stars!
5. I didn't fly on a plane for the first time until I was 21...after that I traveled for work for about 10 years!
6. Other than when I was pregnant, I do not have any sort of sweet tooth.
7. I am a total beer snob!

WE HAVE A WINNER!!
Let me leave you in a little bit of anticipation before I announce the winner of the Woombie! Oh don't you DARE scroll down!
So the housekeeper came for the first time this past Tuesday! I was so excited (and felt guilty all at the same time) that I felt like hugging her when she got here. But I was also very embarrassed by the condition of our house. OMG. I wouldn't want to clean it - even if I could find the time to do it! She did an amazing job but it sure took her a while. And she wasn't even able to GET to the blinds! Plus, our blinds are so filthy, it is going to take her an entire visit to do them (plus the bathrooms). How horrible! We are PIGS I tell ya!

When she left I really wanted to roll on the floor! I was so excited that everything was clean. It wasn't as satisfying as doing it myself but it was pretty awesome to have a clean home! It motivated me to kick butt on laundry - clean sheets, clean bath mats, etc. It is amazing how a clean house can equal a clean soul! And I sure needed it after a very difficult weekend.
And now the winner!!

Oh wait, so Mother's Day is coming up and, once again, I have procrastinated. I always have the best ideas but the worst time management. I would blame the fact that I am my baby's biatch for most of the day which leaves me exhausted at the end of the day (all of which are true) however I have always been this way. But I do hope that I make my Mom feel like everyday is Mother's Day!! But I WILL get this special gift out...it just may be there a bit later than Sunday! Sorry Mom!
We are having Mother's Day here for Steph (and us new Mom's I suppose). Grilled burgers, baked beans, spinach salad, potato salad & dessert (thanks to Lauren). It should be a good time and it will be early enough in the day that we can get the babies to bed on time (Lauren, my SIL, has a baby that is about 5 months older than H).
Be sure to give your Mom lots of love...do this everyday, not just on a Hallmark holiday!!
Ok, enough is enough.
The winner of THE WOOMBIE is...
...
...
AMBER!!!!
The random number generator picked number 19 out of 56 (thinks for all the entries!) and Amber was number 19!! Congratulations! I will be emailing you to get more information. The nice folks at The Woombie will be sending your choice of Woombie to you directly!

The above pic is not H, by the way.
I hope you will LOVE it as much as we do!
I am working on getting more awesome giveaways for my dedicated followers!!! Stay tuned!!
