Yes, I do believe it is official. The spider outside the back door is, in fact, dead. I looked again today and its legs seem a bit shriveled and it is in the same spot as yesterday. I think the reason I thought it had moved was because the shadow of the box next to the door was hiding it! Can you believe that I have already spent this much time worrying about it? Just had to give an update.
Oh, and you have heard of the gray area? Well, it is on the top of my head. Folks, I have some gray hair. Not a lot but enough. Man, is there any end to feeling old? What next? A bad knee? Oh, wait...

Oh and then there are the neighborhood kids..
I just got pranked...that's awesome. "Someone" rang the doorbell and then no one was there. Don't worry. I didn't run to the door. I am upstairs overlooking the driveway and saw no cars. I know my friends love me but they won't walk here! Good try...twerps.
Ahhh, the mixed pot of emotions...
I won't really go into my emotions today. I will keep it light and cheery. Let's just say that I miss certain things in life so much - T being such a huge one! I have gone from really wanting him home to really needing him home. I am having a hard time with my emotions today and a hug from T would save me from the hole that I seem to jump in when no one is around. I have determined today that, if it weren't for T and I being together, I would not stay in Tucson. If T left me tomorrow, I would go home to those who really know me and understand me. I miss my family so much...especially tonight. I love you guys.
No stories from the gym. Amber met me and we did a good hard hour of cardio and abs. She is very happy right now. A new boyfriend, a new apartment, a new life. I am so happy for her. She deserves it...it's about time.
There's a scary spider right outside the screen door to the backyard. I can't tell if he is dead or not. I leaped about 2' past him as I went outside to water my onions this morning. He didn't move. Nor did he when Jackson went past him to go to the bathroom. Looks like a very young wolf spider. I hate those things. I hear they are good because they eat the insects you don't want. But, if they are meant to be good, they should look more warm and not so fuzzy! They are very creepy looking.
My seeds are growing very well! The Saran Wrap tenting them must be the magic. My tomatoes are really looking good! I am excited to get the garden built so that I can get everything going!
I'm sorry, this blog is just gonna suck. I really don't have much to talk about, I am pretty down tonight and I guess I am not very creative with words. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Another productive day...other than the hole...
What a nice day today! I woke up feeling awesome and so ready for the day to begin. I went to the gym this morning after watering my growing seedlings! I will take a picture of them tomorrow to share with you. Some of them, including my tomato plants, are growing! I am so excited!
No real good gym stories other than the very pregnant girl that arrived while I was sweating it out on the elliptical (my knee is still too sore for running). At first I felt that knot in my stomach when I saw her but it turned to humor when I saw her try to adjust the stationary bike. Haha! Her stomach was so big that she couldn't get behind the handle bars of the bike and still touch the pedals. She looked very frustrated as she looked for a treadmill to walk on. I felt bad laughing but, honestly, it felt good too.
I got a lot more done today including making a pretty good size hole in our bedroom wall! I vacuumed (however you spell it) the whole house, hung pictures in Tay's bathroom as well as in our room. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try to hang a shelf over our TV in the bedroom. The purpose of the shelf is to hold a framed picture of me that my Dad and Twila gave me from my first day of school, a kid pic of Todd at probably the same age and then a pic of T and I together from the wedding in the center. Well, one screw to hang the shelf was able to go right into a stud. However the second screw needed its anchor. But, when I put the anchor in the wall, it came right back out and left a fairly good size hole! I am telling you right here and now. Houses in the west are made a lot different than in the east. I don't understand!
Anyway, after some creative adjusting, it is hanging up. Don't ask how or when it might come down...I don't know. But hopefully it will stay in place since there won't be a lot of weight on top of it! Haha!
I completely organized my two spice cabinets and my entire pantry including vacuuming (there's that word again) out the loose spices, getting rid of expired items and itemizing everything. It looks great! I will take pics tomorrow.
After that I coordinated my shopping list for tomorrow. I am going to come home after the gym, shower, then head out to shop. We have a Pottery Barn gift card so I may stop there first to see what they have. Then on to grocery shopping. I am planning on getting us fully stocked and ready for T being home! So excited to have him back!
So my plan is to marinate some pot roast Friday night to put in the crock pot on Saturday. The idea is that, if he is hungry when he gets home, he will have a hearty home cooked meal. If he isn't, no problem. I can refrigerate it for left overs and will still have the homey aroma of the crock pot in the house.
Sunday he has requested my lasagna. So I will be making the sauce on Saturday so that it can sit and, as Emeril says, get happy overnight. Then I will make the lasagna on Sunday. I am also planning on making his favorite cookies, having a bottle of Bailey's readily available and the coffee pot clean!
I guess that's it for now...moving on to some couch potato stew!!

Crap room to plant nursery...
What a productive day! I actually finished TWO projects I was hoping to accomplish over the next couple of days! That is why I decided to have me a cold frosty beer! I am very proud of my determination and motivation today.
Let's start with my near collision, however. This morning, on the way to the gym, I was in the left lane of a two lane road (Grant). I was going through a light at a steady pace while the right lane began stalling because a city bus had stopped at a bus stop. This is nothing new on Grant. There are buses all over that road. That is typically why I stay in the left lane - to avoid as much stop and go as possible.
Well, I guess the lady in the right lane behind the bus did not see me (and the other three cars that were riding my tail) in the left lane. She methodically and slowly pulled out of her lane...and almost right into me! I had to literally LOCK my brakes up and swerve to the left...which had a large pickup truck in the turning lane. Either I, or someone else, honked the horn at this crazy lady. But she really didn't seem all that fazed! I, however, was pretty shaken up. I have no idea how we did not collide. I really don't. It was pure luck and maybe a little of my maneuvering skill.
Once I got to the gym I was a bit more calm and ready to try out my new shoes on the treadmill. Well, the shoes are GREAT but my knees are NOT. Here is a piece of advice from a procrastinator like me...if you procrastinate, you will hurt more in the long run! I procrastinated getting new running shoes and now my knees are beyond trouble. I was almost at a mile when I had such large tears in my eyes, I just had to stop.
See, my problem is that I will push myself to extreme limits. I will make myself run even if it hurts - almost like I am punishing myself...my body...so I keep going and take the pain. So, if I actually stop because I can't take it anymore, you know that is some intense pain I am talking about.
The problem was, I hadn't really worked up a sweat in a mile. So I hopped on an elliptical machine. For those who aren't sure which machine that is, here is what I was on:

Anyway, I did 20 min on the elliptical doing the "fat burning" program on level 5 or 6 (I can't remember which level now). I was really upset that I wasn't running but I didn't hold on to the bars on the machine and, instead, moved my arms as if I were running to add to the cardio. Little did I know that, once home and working on my projects, I would have a sore behind!! Yay! That's awesome. I mixed it up a little for my body and it responded with some healthy soreness. This might be my cardio of choice until my knee heals. Other than that, no real stories from the gym today. I kept my eyes and head down while entering the locker room to go pee so I saw no evil today...and no rodeo queen!
After my turkey BLT at home, I went right into my projects. I busted out hard on the crap room. I accomplished everything and MORE that I wanted to in that room! I still need to vacuum but it looks...more vacant! There is still furniture in there and other storage items that I need close by. It is also home to my germinating seeds (that sounds dirty...and I don't mean potting soil dirty). One day I would love for this room to be the baby nursery. But, until that time, it will be my plant nursery! The only difference is that we eat those babies! Here is a shot (I unfortunately don't have a before pic but just imagine CRAP all over the floor and unorganized in the closet) of the newly cleaned and organized "nursery".

There are still pics (as you can see) that need a place to call home. I am looking for the perfect wall so, in the meantime, they are stashed next to the "desk". My sewing machine is still in here and will be unless it needs to change to a room for a little one.
And the office. Remember this?

Now it is this:

My "area" is on the right side. Here are my craft cabinets that are in the closet right next to my desk area:

I still have a little cleaning to do in here and some hanging of more pics but it certainly has come along.
Last night, I organized the medicine cabinet above the stove. I used bins from the dollar store to organize meds according to their function. That way, we can just pull the bins that we need instead of all the meds being piled on top of each other where we can't find anything. I also found a lot of expired meds that I threw away. Now we know EXACTLY what we have and don't have. Take a look:

And, my other project that I actually didn't think I would get to today was the laundry room. Again, no before pic. But the area between the hamper and the washer was packed full of plastic bags and newspapers...not too sure why. I added the flowers in the vase to add some color and "prettiness" to a room I am in a lot. And, above that, a wood burning that my very creative Dad did for me. There were multiple bottles of the same product on the top shelf so I consolidated them to clear off space. To the right of the vase will be more paper towels after my shopping trip Friday! There is a white board on the wall to the left but it has been there for a while. We usually write T's travel schedule or anything else we need to remember. But most of that stuff goes on the white board calendar in the pantry too. Anyway, here is the "updated", clean and organized laundry room.

On top of that, I finished all of the laundry (other than my workout clothes today). I feel pretty caught up and in good shape for the week ahead. I have a checklist in my head of the things I want to get done before T gets home. I will probably write it all down tonight so that I am sure to get it done.
They say it may rain in the next day or so and it is supposed to get cooler for the weekend - high 60s, low 70s. That will be PERFECT for T's arrival! I see a beer Sunday on the horizon and I cannot WAIT! I talked to him tonight and he was having a cigar and glass of wine on his hotel room balcony in Monte Carlo. Don't cry for him Argentina. Boohoo...hard work, blah, blah! Haha! No, he is seriously busting butt out there and taking names. Makes me so proud.
Well, I am off to cut coupons from the Sunday paper. Confused, are ya? Yeah, I left the paper in the trunk of the car Sunday. I stuck it in there so that I could put the top down. I just found it today. So I am going to cut those coupons and make my to do and my grocery list. Then I will be chilling for the rest of the night. I did a lot today and feel more than ready to take a load off the ol' domestic diva feet!
So the excerpt tonight from my awesome "Girl Talk" book given to my by Amy:
Two women from, what looks like, the late 40's/early 50's era are playing tug of war with a large rope. You can only see the two of them pulling as hard as they can, their faces strained. The saying: Sometimes it takes teamwork to pull a guy's head out of his butt.
On that note...buttin' out!

I laughed, I cried, I got new shoes and need new cuticles
Well, I am on the last week of T's European tour! I am really looking forward to having him home. I haven't been truly tormented in over a week and I am not sure how to handle the silence.
My goal while he was gone was to get the house completely organized, hang some pictures and shelves (thanks to the handy-dandy stud finder I got him for Valentine's Day). Well, I am pushing through but still have more to do. Last night I finally got down to the nitty-gritty with the almost three years worth of letters from my Dad and SMom. At first I was straightening all the pages, trying to find dates (or read Dad's letters to determine a round-about time period) but, after two hours, I ended up just separating them by approximate years. And, to be quite honest, towards the end I didn't straighten the pages anymore. I kinda put'em in folded. But they are now filed away in a very neat fashion so that I can keep them forever.
As I was making my way through the letters, I did open some and read a little. Some made me laugh like when Dad went to get a colonoscopy (or however you spell it) and we were calling it visiting his neighborhood - oops, sorry Dad if this was to be a private matter! I laughed so hard remembering that letter along with our phone conversation about it I almost peed. And then there were also tears like the letter about my first Christmas visit. I also ran across cards that they, my Mom, John and my Grandma Sachse who has since passed away, had sent me after I moved out here. I was a blubbering idiot for a portion of the sorting time.
I also cried a little over the cuticles of my nails. I have cuticles the size of Texas on my man hands. I kept jabbing them with the hard cardboard of the expandable files every time I would shove a letter inside it. I have no idea if you know what I mean but I can tell you they actually are still sore today. I definitely need a manicure.
Strangest thing...I have no gym stories today. Probably because my workout wasn't as extensive as usual thanks to my piece of crappy rubber running shoes that I have been wearing for about 2 weeks now. Thanks a lot, Target, I thought you were my friend! Those shoes are/were horrible! My knee feels like it is going to completely sever the nerve around it and my calves scream every time I take a stride on the treadmill. As I was running my first half mile with tears in my eyes, I thought to myself, I will get new shoes tomorrow. I won't go today because I am wearing short gym shorts that should probably not be worn in too many public places. And I also wanted to take the time to look up a good place to go in Tucson to have my strides analyzed so that I can get shoes that are meant to be on my feet.
Well, by the time I hit the one mile mark, the tears were right in the corners of my eyes where only a blink could set them free. I thought, you know what? Forget tomorrow! I am going today. I don't care that I have no makeup, my hair is slicked back in a head band and further secured with a ponytail holder and that I smell like a homeless man. I am GOING!
So I continued with my weight training - legs, butt, shoulders, abs - and then asked the young guy at the desk where I could go for some good shoes. Performance Footwear or something like that, not far from the gym. I was on it!
When I got there I seemed to be the only one there. I was so glad. I explained my dilema and Paul, the sales guy extraordinare, went to the back to get me, what he called, neutral shoes. I put the neutral shoes on and they actually felt a heck of a lot better than the junkyard tires I was walking on. We went up to this loft area of the store and he asked me to step on the treadmill. All of a sudden, on a monitor in front of me, my legs came up on the screen! Only from the knees down. He was going to record me running at my slow jog speed.
When he played it back, it was amazing. My run was causing my knees to hurt. Well, my run paired with bad clearance rack shoes. He showed me my stride in slow motion and you could see how, when I landed, I landed hard on my heel and then my entire body weight would lean into the insides of my feet. He said THAT would cause pain and injury to my knees.
He brought out running shoes with extra support in those areas as well as cushioned insoles that would further cushion the blows of a 138 lb woman on the insides of my feet! I put them on and immediately heard the cathedral choir singing "ahhhhhhh." It was my feet's soulmate (pun totally intended). It was their lobster. It was meant to be. I was so happy to feel that great in a pair of running shoes. I was tempted to head back to the gym for another run but decided to head home to start my housework. You know, a sloth's work is NEVER done!
So here I am. Listening to the crooked headed ladies kids across the street, neighbors walking their dogs and the never tiring sound of that damn Dachsund next door that NEVER shuts up! I think I might hit a little more in the craft room and look for the stud finder in the garage so that I can hang pics later. Things are really coming together in the house and I am really excited for T to see all the updates.
Oh, I was going to take an after pic of the letters in the expandable files but then thought...why? Just take a couple of brown expandable files, put them on a flat surface and take a pic. That's what it looks like! But once I am done with the office and crap room, pics WILL be taken!!
