My dearest aunt
Welcome back
For once you're welcome
You're right on track.
I know its been
A rocky road with us
But today I'm happy
to deal with your fuss!
Although I am happy
To see you now
This is the only month
You are allowed.
After that, my aunt
your welcome no more
If you try to come by
I will try to slam the door.
But for now
Thanks for stopping by
Looking forward to a short visit
So that we can continue to "try" (hate that term - but it rhymes).
Anyway, here I am in the bathroom doorway supervising Tay's bath while T takes a shower. We had such a nice day yesterday, Tatum and I. Our mini heart cakes were fun. We went to the store together and she picked out the cake mix - Funfetti. She picked out the icing and also spotted Princess sprinkles! I told you I wouldn't be able to leave the store without more sprinkles!!
We came home and started on the cake. I poured the batter in the pan that had six mini heart shapes. Well, me not being a baker by any means, put too much batter in the molds. While we were playing doctor kit in the dining room while the cakes were baking, I noticed through the oven window that our hearts were actually turning into large balls of cakes. Way too much batter in each mold...oops. So, once they were done, we took them out of the mold and tried again...SUCCESS!
Once the cakes were done and on the rack to cool, Tay and I took Jackson and four of her baby dolls on a walk. Other than the multiple stops to adjust the babies in their stroller (they were spilling over...cabbage patch baby took a pretty bad fall), it was a nice walk and Jack helped me out by not pooping in someone's front yard.
When we returned, the cakes were perfectly cooled and ready to have frosting and sprinkles. She made a cake for each person that was going to be at Nona's that night - Nona, Jim, Daddy, Dawna and Tay. She chose the color of the frosting for each person and I wrote their names on each one. I have pics I will add later. We had fun decorating them and she had an even better time eating A LOT of frosting (I mean, really, that's what kids are supposed to do).
It was around 4:30 by the time we were done with our cakes. Tay and I cleaned up and decided to watch a little TV until we went to Nona's. Todd finished work around the same time and headed down to hang out with us. You would have thought a bomb of sleeping gas blew up in our living room. Everyone was sprawled out on couches and foot rests. Todd fell asleep, Tay almost did and I just sat looking at the TV like a zombie. Even Jazzy and Jackson was taking part!
We headed on over to Nona's around 6:15. We ended up having some of Jim's awesome green chili quesadillas for an appetizer and then Papa John's pizza for dinner. I haven't eaten that much grease in a while but it was tasty. We also met their new baby of the family, Yuma - their new dog. She is probably about a year old, some sort of shepard type dog and is a lot of fun.
By the time we left T's Mom's it was around 10 - WAY WAY WAY past Tay's bedtime. She was sound asleep by the time we made it home. T and I did the "tucking in" trying not to wake her up along the way - SUCCESS! We went to bed immediately after and turned on the TV. That didn't last long...we were asleep in no time.
Soooo, as you could probably tell by my earlier poem, my aunt from the south has come for a visit. I thought I saw her coming last night but it was official that she was staying for a visit this morning. It has actually made my day! I am so proud of my body. It is doing so well. For being at an "older maternal age", I am really happy with the way my body is recovering.
It is also good that she has come back because that means that we can move on and try this crazy thing again. But this time I am sure I will be much more reserved about it. I'm probably not going to hang banners and have a parade! Maybe just parents and that's it. Not until the scary 12 weeks is over and then, even then, it may be only a few more people. I'm so scared that something will happen again.
Anyway, we are about to go make rain sticks and hang out a bit more before Tay heads back across town. Tonight I am planning on making T's favorite spaghetti and sauce. I am looking forward to getting the house back in order but I know I will miss Tay when she is gone. As she gets older we have more and more fun together. I am very lucky that I get to be her SMom!
STATUS: Dawna is enjoying her weekend and her visitor!
MOOD: Happy!!
