Garden time

Today was a nice day. I didn't get the bathrooms cleaned like I usually do on Fridays. They really don't look dirty at all from last week's cleaning so I justified to myself that I could do them closer to my Derby party this weekend. That gave me more time to put together my Derby party menu and to clean Tay's room the best I could without a front loader and a dump truck.

So, yes, my annual Derby party is on the horizon and it looks like I may have up to 20 or so people rootin' on the ponies during the delayed viewing of the most exciting 2 minutes in sports! This year is a dress up "red carpet" style theme so the two contests will be "Best Dressed" and "Best Hat." We do best hat every year because, come on, Derby is all about the hats.

My menu for the party (as it stands now):
* Kentucky Burgoo
* Dill dip in bread bowl
* Mini Hot Browns
* Deviled Eggs
* Derby Pie
* Mint Juleps (made from my very own mint!)

I have to get my hat decorated (thanks Mom for letting me borrow your hat)...I am going to attach flowers that match the color of my dress and a ribbon the same color as well. Nothing real out of the ordinary unless I get ultra creative between now and then! I will post pics of my dress and hat when my hat is done and I will obviously post pics of the party next week.

Today's walk in the garden:

My cilantro is becoming more like a tree! It even has small blooms

Welp, other than that, no new news on the home front. I made homemade spaghetti sauce for dinner tonight so now I need to start on the pasta. I posted my typical lunch salad ingredients on The Dirty Details blog in case you guys are the least bit curious about my eating habits. And, if you are, don't you have anything better to do? I'm kidding...sorta...

Hey, I am up to 8 followers!! Two more and I will be in double digits and considered a slight celebrity...well, among those in this household anyway.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen! I will be here all week!
