First, I must say, this Facebook thing is absolutely incredible. I know I have talked about this before but it never ceases to amaze me the people that find me or vice versa! It is so incredible how many people have touched me throughout my life. So many past jobs, high school, college and even my friends from childhood. Not to mention distant family members. I am in awe with the number of people I have reconnected with through just a touch of a key! It is so amazing and I am so glad I ventured over to Facebook world. It is 100 times better (if not more) than MySpace. Most people don't put their real names on MySpace so you can never reconnect. And MS feels very "young" where Facebook feels more...my age and older, I suppose. It's really nice and I am thoroughly enjoying my chat time with my past!!
In other news, I rode by my old apartment today after I left the gym. I loved that apartment. It was my first roof over my head in a new state far away from my family and friends. It treated me well. It was one of the best apartments in the complex (as were all the other ones on the corner like mine). Second floor, full front covered porch, full back porch the width of the apartment, lots of windows (which is hard to find in Tucson for some reason) and it was in the best part of town at the foothills of the Catalina Mountains. The last time I drove by it, the back porch had nothing on it but a mop. I was disappointed because I remember how much I loved putting plants and seating out there to look at the mountains. But, today I saw a different visual. The person living there now has really made the back porch beautiful and homey. I am so glad that someone is appreciating my first Tucson home as much as I did.
Quick note...this will be a quick blog entry. T is gone to pick up Tay and they will be back pretty soon. I need to get dinner started before they get back and I still have laundry to fold as well.
I met Amber at the gym today. We decided to try out a class that takes place at 9 am which is when we usually meet. It was pretty good. A conditioning (weights) class. I didn't sweat much but the instructor (other than quite a few annoying 'woohoo' s) was pretty good. We decided that, if we take the class next week, we definitely have to do 30 min of cardio before or after to get our sweat on. After class, the instructor asked us how we liked it. We were nice and said it was fine, thank you. But I could see the look in her eyes and was just waiting to hear her say "Lorraine, huh?" Lorraine is an instructor in the evenings who I used to go to and, at the same time, Amber and I took personal training from her twice a week for about a year. She is solid, awesome and super strict!! So Amber and I have become very strong and it takes quite a bit to get the ol' heart pumping hard. But, for a weight class to break up the norm, it was ok!
Garden update - carrots are starting to pop out! Garlic is getting taller, green onions are starting to peek out of the soil and still no cucumbers. I think the birds must have gotten those seeds. No pics today, no time. But I will definitely get some after Tay leaves this weekend so you can see the progress!
Off to the awesome land of SMom-Ville! =]
