Super Sunday

You know, when you have a blog, you find yourself continuously thinking of what you want to write when you find time to sit at the computer and add an entry. Whenever you see something, smell something or hear something, you find yourself creatively wording it in your head in order to convey the exact moment to those reading about your dull life. It is a very interesting way to go through the day...the best part? It helps you realize every moment of every day!

Today was a great leisure day. T and I took our time getting ready but was still showered and ready for the day before 11. We decided that we were going to raid our huge abundance of gift cards and make it a shopping day.

First stop, Olive Garden. We had a huge stack of Olive Garden gift cards. And, even though we aren't huge fans of OG, it always tastes better when it's free. Their salads are ok so we got a salad and T got soup. It was a nice, light lunch before a quick stop at the mall. I am in need of some summer shorts so I wanted to use a couple of my New York and Co gift cards. It was a success and we were in and out in a flash. T is great to shop with - he never rushes me and always gives me honest feedback when it comes to clothes...or anything, really.

After we left NY and Co, we hit the new Forever 21 store in the mall. The name should really deter my 37 year old ass from going in but I remembered how much I liked the one I went to in the outlet mall close to Louisville so I had to check it out. This store is much larger than any other Forever 21 I had ever been to! It is two floors and took over the entire space that Mervyn's used to occupy. I was amazed...and intimidated. As we entered, the rap music with over modulated bass was pumping and I instantly felt like I shopping in a nightclub that would only allow 20 somethings through the door.

I instantly looked for other "mature" women so that I wouldn't feel alone. They were hard to find and, the ones I did see, I was thinking the same thing others were probably thinking of me...what are YOU doing in here? I did end up finding a cute shirt and skirt that looked like they would be ok (and maybe even better) on my 30 something year old J Lo than a pup ass.

We made a couple of more stops on the way home but still made it back by 3'ish. I was feeling a little lazy so we watched two awesome episodes (reruns) of House. They were the most intense and exciting episodes we have seen yet! Because I had a pot roast in the crock pot, we were able to ride our bikes before dinner without worrying too much about the time. I was hesitant about going at first because I still felt a little lazy, but I was so glad I decided to go.

We headed a different direction than our usual route and ended up on one of the back roads by our house. It is such an amazing contrast from Tucson...it is country side. It reminds me a lot of taking I-64 through Indiana from KY. If it weren't for the majestic mountains and the various cacti, I would swear we were riding through Indiana farm land. We rode past acres of wheat farms, crossed the Santa Cruz "River" that actually has water standing (and a small calf drinking), open ranges of cows right by the road, and pastures of horses. With the glowing orange sun starting to set, the views we encountered were beautiful!!

The only challenge was that, while I was admiring the beauty around me, I was also monitoring my side mirror to see when the 50 mph cars were coming up behind me...especially when there wasn't much of a bike lane...ok, no bike lane.

We rode to the end of the road, took a left and ended up at the Marana Regional Airport. T has dreams of becoming a pilot and having our little prop at MRA just waiting for our spontaneous trips to Louisville...or anywhere else we may desire. Oh, you think I mean a far fetched dream. No, he has real visions of this happening!

We stopped for a bit so that he could look through the wrought iron fence at the tarmac. A little boy with a dream. I was a little nervous watching the sun set while we sat there...knowing we still had to make the 5 mile trek back home. We usually don't ride in the dark so I was hoping to get home well before then...especially knowing we would be back on the road with no bike lane. But, you know? It was totally worth it. T was finally able to see two props take off which is something he has been really wanting to see. I didn't mind the twilight ride home. It was different, beautiful and it even smelled a little different. The interesting element to our ride home was the cold air pockets we ran into throughout the valley. It felt exhilirating!

Once we returned home, we had our pot roast with veggies, mashed potatoes and gravy and then watched Celebrity Apprentice which is where we are now. So a quick entry in order to keep the post number increasing and my followers following! Hope it wasn't too much of a bore but, the bottom line is that my bottom is sore from a good 10 mile ride but it is looking forward to wiggling into my new shorts and skirt that I bought on a very super Sunday.

You are cracking me up about the shopping trip. Do you know how many times I have went into a store thinking I have to have this but...I might be a little old for this getup! I think you should whip up an eternal youth solution in that crock pot of yours!
